This video is going to cover my thoughts on the previous generation of Sony action cams namely the HDR AS20, AS100V, AS200 that paved the way for the newest Action Cam from Sony the incredible FDR X3000! I don’t normally throw around words like greatest, best, and top of the line however, this action cam is by far the best one that is available as of right now.. Is it comparable to the GoPro Hero 5? Absolutely! As I mentioned in the video I had cameras prior to this that I was using to do my YouTube vlogging such as a Sony DSC w70 and then I moved into the Kodak zi8 and Zi 10 brand of pocket cams.. After using those cameras for some time for my channels I decided it was time to upgrade into something that was comfortable for me like a point and shoot so with that Revelation I moved into a Canon PowerShot Elph 300 HS. The only thing that was lacking on that camera was an external microphone input that was needed for windy conversations, and as far as battery life it seem to eat through the battery’s relatively quick the other problem was shooting in full HD it would only fire video for 10 minutes before shutting off.. So at this point with my channel moving and growing at a pretty quick Pace I knew that I had to get into a camera that would do more for me that’s when I started with the Sony action cam series.. Now after the last 10 years I realize that I need to keep up with the times as far as the cameras are concerned and I went ahead and purchased a FDR x3000 Sony action cam with built-in Optical image stabilization and it is awesome! Sony has been slowly creeping up on here as far as taking over as one of the best action cams out there this camera does that it finally surpassed the brand new GoPro Hero 5 with its ability to smooth out some of the roughest roads, and keep the image stable while you walk and Vlog. I really think that this is the best camera that you could get to block with YouTube at this time I can’t find a better one.. Thanks for watching I appreciate it!

If you don't need $K just go for the HDR-AS300 !!
What is the difference between the AS200 and the AS300?
Great camera history and reviews!
Great video. No idea why you don't have more views, clear title. Very informative, thinking of picking up a used x3000 and mount it on the side of my motor helmet and use it for under water freedive shots. I understood that the flat housing produces way better video quality than the normal stock housing. Thanks again for the video!
My AS20 has been my workhorse camera for car racing video for over four years now. The on-board mic is nothing to write home about, but I use an external mic to capture exhaust sound from my car. I'm thinking about switching to the AS200 to be able to retain my skeleton case from the 20, but get better overall image quality.
sony fdr x3000 vs sony hdr as50r. which one is better
can you set the x3000 to 1080p when filming? and how does it compare to the as200 filming in 1080p? i dont have a pc that can handle 4k.
Hello sir, great review! Does the battery in the 4K X3000 model is the same as it was with the 200VR? In that case NP-BX1?
I love your set for the FDR-X3000. so, it's only two pieces ?
It would be nice to for the X3000 to have;
* a bigger battery, because you only get ~50 minutes recording time at 4K.
* USB-3 or USB-C port, because copying 4K video on USB 2.0 is just painful…
Using an SD card reader isn't much faster! Also, I found that my Samsung 128Gb – U3 microSD card didn't always seat property in the camera & I was losing footage.
Now all my data transfer is via the USB cable…
I doubt they're still available, but the comparison between the three Sony ActionCams, what are the relative file sizes? That may be an explanation for the different quality videos – that the file compression/quality settings could account for the differing image quality. I'm not saying it is, but it may be indicative. However equally, advances in technology, hardware iterations, production & programming may also be an explanation.
Anyway, I have the Sony FDR-X3000 & have uploaded a number of videos testing this amazing camera – in real world situations. My latest being X3000 forward (top) and AS100V rear (bottom) comparison of the two cameras. 😎
Helpful information and guidance on the new Sony camera FDR-X3000. Thanks.

I like your Sony FDR-X3000 setup. However it would be nice to be able to mount an external microphone on top aswell and a handle on the bottom. Could you link me the parts used for your setup? The bracket and the clip etc.
Best regards,
Brian
