In our ongoing Game Engines by Language series, today we are looking at the languages available for Python developers. That is, game engines where you can script your game logic using the python programming language. We have already done similar videos for Lua, C#, C++, Javascript and Haxe.
Currently covered engines:

So no one made a TIMEMAP?
There are any book which explains how make a generic 2D engine in Python? I mean, something that can run on Raspberry Pi 🙂

Very nice video💖💖💖
What is the difference between GDscript and phyton?

Hi, I have Blender 2.79b, and am unsure if it has the game engine and if so, where do I access it? Help would be appreciated. Thanks!
pygame has no Vsync and lags to hell. Totally not recommended
In conclusion, there's no solid game framework for Python.
uhm nice video for quick overview. but where are all the learn more links that you promised in the video?
Kivent Game Engine is great to make games with Python
Pygame cannot run on Macos
The fucking ads
4:03 Toy town XD Its toontown aaaaaaa
Can i use a python library on godot engine? like sklearn or keras/tensorflow? because i want make a 3d scenary to run AI tests.
Unity is kinda as you can write logic using boo which is very, very similar to Python.
I want to make something like Green Beret…which one should i use ??…or something like Ikari warriors…or in General old school MAME….which engine would be best for me? I have 2-3 years Python programming experience.
No Kivy?
I'm currently learning how to code with python at school. I wanted to learn a little more about this engine…
Where is PyCap ?
Java and HTML5 seems to be missing from this list. Would be nice if could cover these two.
Hope to see java next.
I'm more baffled by the fact that the python logo has actually 2 dots in its eyes in alternating color 0.o And I have been programming python for more than 3 years now.
What about Kivy? None of the Python engines you mentioned have a path to mobile…
I thought I saw somewhere someone did straight Python with Godot?
Also there is a Kivy framework. It looks good for some casual mobile games, I think.
Nice video, Mike!
Please do Java in the upcoming episodes.
A thing I didn't quite like about Pyglet is that it uses inverted Y axis — positive is up. Which makes it a bit annoying to have to re-thing everything with that in mind… Other than that it seemed good but I didn't explore further.
Pyglet is OpenGL based much harder than pygame, but way much powerful!
<3 <3 <3 Pyglet <3 <3 <3
Do basic game engines next? Like Quick Basic? 😛
Wtf is there dots on the snake's eyes?
Ya damn right you can make a list with Python!!!! 🙂
Ruby game engines
Blender Game Engine. BibleThump
Seems like your coverage is not very thorough which makes me wonder if there are other options even beyond AGK. I know you covered the excellent AppGameKit a couple of years or more ago but maybe do not know it now supports BASIC, C/C++, C#, Java/Kotlin and Python and despite is name builds for mobile, Windows, Mac and Linux desktop and web.
next one is ( no language game engines ) = visual blocks programing
Do a Haskell game engine video, maybe even ASM? seriously though is there actually a game engine for Haskell?
Godot actually does have python support, but through 3rd party plugins you can install through the godot assets library, the bindings source code are even available on github for download, there’s a cpython and pypy version.
Godot 3 is getting a Python support, touilleman (godot contributor) has been working on it past year, i think he released couple of betas.
RIP a true hero, BGE
Very good series! Thank you 🙂
